Big Data : What we have is a data glut !!!
There
is a growing need for efficient processing of very large volumes of
data,Larger than ever before which is frequently referred to as Big Data.
Big Data analysis has emerged as an important activity in the past few years.
The world's effective capacity to exchange information through telecommunication networks was 281 petabytes in 1986, 471 petabytes in 1993, 2.2 exabytes in 2000 , 65 exabytes in 2007 and is predicted that the amount of traffic flowing over the internet will reach more than 667 exabytes by 2014.
Map Reduce is the first parallel processing programming framework and it was introduced by GOOGLE in 2004 which process a huge amount of data everyday.Similarly many other companies such as Microsoft ,Yahoo also started the reasearch for parallel processing systems to deal with the large data sets.
Generally ,Big Data has 3 V's .Volume,Velocity and Variety.
Volume
refers to large amount of data generated by every second.We can find
data in any formats of text,videos,images,music.The Big volume indeeds
represents Big Data .
Velocity
refers to the speed at new data is generated and how it moves around.In
real,we can see it on social media's.The high velocity data represents
Big Data.
Variety refers to
multiple kind of data's that we can use.Usually on social media most of
them are unstructured data's like images,comments,videos,likes and
posts.The variety of data represents Big Data.
In today's world by using Big Data,We have several advantages.
1.We can manage the data better.
2. We will get benefit from speed,scalability and capacity of data storage.
Big Data
is not just about lots of data .It is a concept that provides a
prospect to find new vision in your existing data to capture and
analysis your future data.Data is the new science. Big Data holds the
answers !!!
